The St. Maria Goretti Society, also known as our Prison Ministry, is an important outreach group dedicated to helping those who are incarcerated.

This ministry specifically helps those of Catholic faith in the Lycoming County prison system by offering encouragement, spiritual support, and prayer. The team meets with individuals Wednesday afternoons from 1-2 pm.
Volunteers are needed! Requirements include having an open heart, the ability to work within a non-judgmental zone, and possess strong interpersonal skills to offer both spiritual and general support through conversation.
We are reminded to “visit the imprisoned” through the corporal works of mercy. Matthew Chapter 25 also reminds us of the importance to visit those in prison and of aide: ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
